TAG Heuer just dropped a revolution at Dubai Watch Week 2025: the Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph Air 1. This isn't just a new watch; it's a statement on the future of case architecture and high-performance horology. Limited to just 30 pieces, this avant-garde timepiece represents one of the most complex and visionary creations the Swiss watchmaker has ever produced.
The most immediate and striking element is the case. Inspired by the aerodynamic world of hypercars and Formula 1, the Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph Air 1 looks like it was literally sculpted by the wind.
Additive Manufacturing: The case is crafted from Grade-5 titanium using Selective Laser Melting (SLM). This 3D-printing technique, adapted from aerospace engineering by the TAG Heuer LAB, allows for intricate, hollowed, and architectural structures previously impossible with traditional machining.
Featherlight: The resulting watch weighs an astonishingly light 85 grams, channeling the energy and flow of motorsport design.
Visual Flair: The detailed twin-layered honeycomb mesh—reminiscent of high-performance engine covers—is accented by touches of 2N yellow gold and black DLC-coated titanium, creating a stunning contemporary aesthetic that immediately sets it apart from any previous Monaco.
A revolutionary case demands a revolutionary movement. Beating at the heart of the Air 1 is the Calibre TH81-00, developed in collaboration with Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier.
This is officially TAG Heuer’s most complex chronograph movement to date.
Split-Seconds Power: The high-frequency automatic movement features the legendary rattrapante (split-seconds) function, allowing the user to measure two separate intervals simultaneously.
Lightweight Core: The movement itself utilizes numerous lightweight titanium components, marrying strength and finesse.
Racing DNA: Through the sapphire caseback, you can admire the Calibre TH81-00, complete with a checkered-flag finishing—a beautiful mechanical tribute to TAG Heuer’s enduring connection to racing.
From the groundbreaking Heuer Mikrograph in 1916 to today's modern Masterpieces, TAG Heuer has consistently pushed the limits of precision.
As CEO Antoine Pin stated, the Air 1 is a "watchmaking revolution." The use of the SLM process has essentially delivered a designer’s wildest creation, marking a new chapter for the brand and the iconic square-cased Monaco.
The TAG Heuer Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph Air 1 is elegant, powerful, and visionary—it’s not just a watch, it’s a concept realized, and it marks the beginning of a new series of conceptual timepieces for the brand.
