Five years ago, Laurent Ferrier debuted the Classic Origin—a model born from the philosophy that true elegance lies in timeless balance, not excess. Today, to celebrate the Maison's 15th anniversary, they revisit this foundational model with a stunning new interpretation: the Classic Origin Beige.
This release is more than just a colorway; it’s a distillation of the brand’s minimalist spirit and commitment to uncompromising refinement.
The 40 mm Classic case is instantly recognizable, defined by its gentle, pebble-like curves. For the first time in the Classic Origin line, this case is rendered in warm 5N red gold. This noble metal, paired with the new beige opaline dial, creates a timepiece that radiates both subtle reminiscence and undeniable modernity.
The Dial: The beige dial, infused with warm undertones, provides a serene stage for the time. Legibility is ensured by a brown railway track, a central cross, and minute track accents in red, perfectly mirroring the numerals on the small seconds sub-dial at six o'clock.
Signature Hands and Crown: The brand’s iconic 18k gold Assegai hands glide serenely over the surface. Attention must also be paid to the crown: its rounded, generous, ball-like shape is designed to transform the winding process from a mechanical action into a moment of genuine pleasure for the wearer.
Beneath the sapphire case back lies the beating heart of the watch: the LF116.01 calibre, a manually wound movement crafted to the Maison’s highest standards of haute horlogerie finishing.
Precision Details: The movement features a screw balance guided by a Breguet-type overcoil hairspring, a pairing specifically chosen to enhance precision and reduce positional errors for consistent timekeeping.
Tactile Winding: For the discerning collector, the movement holds a treasured secret: the signature long-blade ratchet pawl. This component, entirely polished and chamfered by hand, delivers a unique, crisp, and unmistakable tactile sensation when winding the watch. Once fully wound, the calibre offers a highly practical 80+ hour power reserve.
While the LF116.01 might appear visually simpler than some of Laurent Ferrier’s complex movements, it maintains the very same standard of meticulous finishing that defines the brand.
The bridges feature a sophisticated sandblasted finish and are treated in black rhodium, while every edge is hand-polished. Mirror-polished screws provide bright contrast, and the manually crafted interior angle on the escapement bridge is a subtle detail that speaks volumes about the artisan's patient skill. Every component is hand-finished—nothing is left to chance.
Completing the ensemble is a hand-sewn mocha nubuck strap, lined with Alcantara, featuring a 5N red gold pin buckle that echoes the warmth of the case.
The Classic Origin Beige is more than a watch; it is a discreet, powerful statement that some forms of beauty never fade. It is the perfect centerpiece for Laurent Ferrier’s fifteenth anniversary celebration.
