Return Flight: Oris Reimagines the ProPilot Date for Everyday Adventures

Oris, the independent Swiss watchmaker from Hölstein, has officially unveiled the redesigned ProPilot Date, marking an exciting evolution of one of its most beloved contemporary pilot’s watches. Described as "Re-energised" and "better than ever," this new generation of the ProPilot is an aviation watch created not just for the cockpit, but for all of life's daily adventures.

The original ProPilot, introduced in 2014, quickly became a signature piece for the brand, known for its focus on function and its connection to the legacy of Oris's first pure aviation watch, the 1938 Big Crown Pointer Date. Now, Oris has subtly refined and upscaled the ProPilot Date to deliver uncompromising, ultra-dependable everyday performance.

Design Refinements: Sharper Lines, Natural Textures

The new ProPilot Date features a 41.00 mm stainless steel case that has been cleverly updated. The designers have given the case tauter, sharper visual lines, lending the watch a more dynamic and modern silhouette. Satin and polished finishes further elevate the look, while the iconic angled bezel fluting—designed to echo jet engine turbines—remains firmly in place, maintaining that crucial aviation DNA.

Ergonomics were clearly a priority. The new case is designed to wrap around the wrist with extreme comfort, and the oversized crown, a signature feature inherited from the Big Crown, has been updated for improved usability.

Perhaps the most visible and appealing change is to the dial. The new ProPilot Date arrives with a beautifully textured finish available in three natural colors: black, chalk, or moss. This textured look echoes materials found in nature and provides a fantastic backdrop for the reworked applied and brushed Arabic numerals. Coupled with redesigned, lume-tipped hands, legibility and balance are better than ever.

The watch is available on a new multi-piece stainless steel metal bracelet or a suede leather strap. For those opting for the suede, a clever secret is included: a built-in seamless fit adjustment system that allows for a perfect, hole-less adjustment, ensuring optimal comfort all day long. Both strap options utilize the ProPilot’s famous 'LIFT' clasp, now subtly edged and chamfered to match the new case design.

Power and Pricing

The redesigned ProPilot Date is powered by the Oris Calibre 733, an automatic movement offering 41 hours of power reserve. It provides central hands for hours, minutes, and seconds, along with a date window at 3 o'clock.

The new models are scheduled for November availability, with Swiss retail pricing set at:

  • Leather strap: CHF 1,950

  • Metal bracelet: CHF 2,150

A Partnership for the Greater Good: Coulson Aviation

Beyond the product itself, Oris continues to shine a light on its significant partnership with Coulson Aviation, the pioneering aerial firefighting company. Oris is proud to support Coulson's life-saving mission, which combats devastating forest fires around the world using specialized aircraft like the Boeing 737 and Lockheed C-130 Hercules.

The partnership speaks to a shared vision: a passionate community united around a common purpose. Whether it's the brave pilots and experts who make up the Coulson team or the global network of enthusiasts that surrounds Oris from its small village home in Hölstein, both entities embody the spirit of precision, teamwork, and a drive to bring positive change.

The new ProPilot Date is a testament to the fact that simple, purpose-driven design can deliver genuine joy and uncompromising performance. This is one "Return Flight" we are thrilled to welcome.
