The Parmigiani Fleurier 30th Anniversary Carillon Tourbillon

At Bandiera Jewellers, we have always believed that the world’s finest timepieces are more than instruments of precision—they are works of living art. Every so often, a creation emerges from the heart of Switzerland that fundamentally redefines the boundaries of haute horlogerie.

To mark their landmark 30th anniversary, Parmigiani Fleurier has unveiled such a masterpiece: the Carillon Tourbillon, a crowning jewel of their highly exclusive Objets d’Art Collection. Produced in an ultra-limited edition of only five pieces worldwide, this striking timepiece is a profound tribute to thirty years of independent watchmaking legacy.

Born of Restoration, Built for the Future

To understand the soul of the Carillon Tourbillon, one must understand the man who founded the Maison. Michel Parmigiani began his journey not simply as a creator, but as a master restorer. His philosophy has always been clear: before creating, one must understand. By listening to the mechanical intelligence of centuries-old clocks and pocket watches, he learned to decipher the architecture of time itself.

The spark for this 30th-anniversary creation traces back to a masterpiece from the Sandoz Collection: an early 19th-century Perrin Frères pocket watch equipped with a chiming mechanism, which Michel Parmigiani’s workshops painstakingly restored in the year 2000.

The new Carillon Tourbillon does not simply mimic this relic of the past; it inherits its intelligence, translating the historic genius of sounding time into a breathtaking contemporary wristwatch.

A Symphony on the Wrist: The Four-Note Melody

While most minute repeaters utilize two gongs to chime the hours and minutes, the Carillon Tourbillon elevates acoustics to an orchestral scale. It features four serpentine gongs that trace long, undulating curves around the movement. These gongs are directly inspired by the Perrin Frères pocket watch, ensuring that acoustic resonance dictates the physical form of the watch.

When activated by the elegant striking slide integrated into the white gold case band, the watch sings a beautiful, four-note melody:

    • A low-pitched gong for the hours

    • A high-pitched gong for the minutes

    • Two distinct middle gongs, each tuned to its own note, to ring in the quarter-hours

To keep this delicate symphony perfectly cadenced, Parmigiani Fleurier integrated a silent, regulating flywheel within the manual-winding Calibre PF950 movement, ensuring the chime remains fluid and steady from the very first strike to the last
      .

Aesthetic Harmony: Morning Blue & Mezzo Vibrato

True to Parmigiani Fleurier’s philosophy of "discreet virtuosity," the watch balances immense mechanical complexity with absolute aesthetic restraint.

On the dial side, the presentation is clean and serene. Crafted in 18ct white gold, the "Morning Blue" dial features a hand-hammered texture that catches the light like a rippling lake at dawn. Only the polished white gold hands, the iconic PF logo, and the striking hammers are visible, giving you a front-row seat to the kinetic choreography of sounding time.

The ultimate complications—the 60-second tourbillon and the power reserve indicator—are kept intentionally on the reverse side of the watch. Turning the piece over reveals the open-architecture movement adorned with a breathtaking, hand-engraved "mezzo vibrato" pattern. What the carillon makes heard, the hand of the master engraver makes visually vibrates.

    A Masterpiece Designed for Transmission

With a polished 18ct white gold case measuring a balanced 41.6mm, vertical gadroons inspired by classical architecture, and a magnificent 10-day power reserve, the Carillon Tourbillon is an unmatched triumph.

Because it demands an immense investment of time, attentive listening, and manual artistry, only five collectors in the world will ever possess one. It is a timepiece crafted not for fleeting trends, but for true transmission across generations.
